The Superstand Prone, Supine and Upright Stander by Prime Engineering

Superstand is a state of the art, prone, supine and upright stander designed and crafted by adaptive experts, Prime Engineering, for the advancement of special needs children between the heights of 26” and 56”.

The Prime Engineering Superstand is designed to grow with the special needs user, providing optimal, full body support and positioning guidance as the user develops in height and correct posture. This innovative standing system boasts a massive 22” height extension range and that’s without the need for additional positioning options and parts.

The Superstand allows you to change the position of the standing user by simply swapping out the chin support and the headrest and reversing the tray.

Prime Engineering undertook a series of extensive field tests during the initial design phase of their super stand and they were quick to discover that many of the special needs standing aides on the market today lack adequate lower extremity positioning support.

Their first step toward a solution to the problem was the development of an innovative foot plate system, where both plates adjust independently and on all planes. With this all-bases-covered foot plate system, toe in/toe out, planter flexion, dorsi flexion and independent height and depth adjustments can be achieved without the use of tools.

Next on the solutions list was the knee block assembly, which is able to adjust in and out, up and down and side to side, also without the need to pick up a tool. An adjustable width knee block is also available for those special needs users who require braces while standing or for classroom or therapy institutions which are catering to the special needs of multiple or diverse children.

In order to provide a comfortable and wholly supported situation for the special needs user, all supports are soft, breathable and padded.  The hip system boasts width adjustable hip guides, with a choice of 90 degree brackets which are 1” or 2” offset, while the chest system’s lateral pads offer the same adjustment options. All these components can be ordered in combination, in order to meet the specific needs of users with asymmetrical development issues.

To get the longest life span out of your Prime Engineering Superstand, as well as for comfort and hygiene purposes, the stander’s chest harness and pelvic pad are finished in soft, machine washable denim and other, equally efficient and stylish fabric options are available upon request.
